Police & PEMRA being used to crush political opponents: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri

Police PEMRA being used to crush political opponents Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri

PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that the rulers are using the public exchequer for their personal aggrandizement. He said that advertisements worth millions of rupees are being published every day to project the anti-democratic and illegal actions. He said that he had stated long time ago that Pakistan is fast turning into a family dynasty and common man will be deprived of his right to peaceful protest.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri expressed these views while talking to senior party leaders on telephone yesterday. He said that the country’s defence and sovereignty is being attack from inside the country. He said that the government leaders and their allies give bold speeches on the floor of the Parliament against the national sovereignty which are on record. He said that all those clauses and punishments mentioned in the government ads should apply to rulers and their allies. He said that first of all, those who played with national sovereignty in the Dawn News leak case should be held accountable.

Dr Qadri said that the government is making an attempt to muzzle the strong public backlash on the bad governance, lawlessness, Panama theft, and corruption by making the presence of blasphemous content on social media as justification. He said that it now looks certain that the government would embark on the vindictive spree against its political opponents and a new chapter of violence and brutality will be added in the political history of the country.

The PAT Chairman asked the PM as to why he is sitting on the Dawn News leak like Justice Baqir Najfi Commission report. He said that Police and PEMRA are being used to crush the political opponents and expression of free speech. He said that it never happened before that meaning of a talk of a guest participating in a TV show should be twisted by putting sound bite on it. He said that political and democratic freedoms are being snatched. He said that the Model Town tragedy is an example of the worst brutality by Police. He said that 100 people were shot at for fear of people’s democratic uprising and 14 of them were martyred. He said that new action is being planned against politically active youth, media and political opponents. He said that the age of Hitler and Mussolini may well be over but the mindset is still present.
