Orphans of martyrs of Model Town tragedy awaiting justice: Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri

PAT Chairman Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that those who are demanding the JIT to make the proceedings public have not bothered to publically release the Model Town Judicial Commission report despite the passage of 3 years. The killer rulers have got clean shit from police-led JIT that did not even incorporate the stance of victims of Model Town incident in its report. He said that we demanded immediate release of Justice Najafi’s report as well as the recording of voices of those who gave the instructions to kill the PAT workers with bullets rather than with stones. He informed that we had submitted this video in ant-terrorism court and neither Punjab government nor any institution dared to refute the content of video. He wondered if there was supremacy of law in the country, why the accused Sharif family- who injured more than 100 people and killed 14 people with live bullets- was not being put on trial under criminal offenses.

Dr Qadri expressed these views while talking to the meeting of PAT Central Core Committee via the video link. He said that the Sharif brothers trampled upon the law in Model Town incident; they got the report written in their favour from their servants; they openly ridiculed the law and the humanity; and all of these acts of violation of law were done right under the nose of honourable judges and judiciary. Contrary to this, the bereaved families were desperately seeking for justice but they were being humiliated, ridiculed and psychologically tortured. Since last 3 years, he regretted, the victims of Model Town incident had been knocking at the doors of Lahore High Court for Justice Najafi’s report, but the clear-cut decision was not being given.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri noted that if the LHC gives directions to make the report public, our stance would be strengthened so much that the killers would find no place to hide. He opined that the decision was not being done lest we could file our petition in Supreme Court that might create legal hurdles for the Sharif Brothers. He added that the orphans of the martyrs of Model Town Incident wanted to know as to why the killers were being protected, why the oppressors were being helped instead of the oppressed. He questioned whether the states and societies come into being to aid the killers, tyrants and usurpers. He said that it was shocking and unfathomable that CM Punjab was reluctant to release the report authored by the Judicial Commission that was constituted on his own instructions.
