On the special instructions of PAT leader Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, Pakistan Awami Tehreek took out protest demonstrations in over 114 big and small cities of the country to express their condemnation of brutalities being committed on the Burmese Muslims and demonstrate their solidarity with them. The public meetings, which were attended by a large number of people belonging to different walks of life, strongly condemned the reign of terror perpetrated by the Burmese army and the people belonging to Buddhism.

The rally in Lahore was led by PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur. Addressing the participants of the rally, Gandapur said that we stand by the Burmese Muslims at this hour of immense grief and share their sorrow. He said that the international powers should not show expediency and allow the shedding of human blood for their vested interests. He said that they should intervene immediately and stop the followers of Buddhism and the Burmese Army from inflicting violence on the hapless Muslims.

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri has rightly stated that the UN should directly intervene in Burma because the government there has miserably failed to protect the Muslim community that has been living there since centuries. He said that the government has joined hands with the killing mafias. He said that had the current so-called ruler of Burma, who is also a human rights activist, had a bit of honour, she should have returned her Nobel Peace Prize and left the government.

Speaking at the rally, Ch. Afzal Gujjar, Hafiz Ghulam Farid, Haji Furrkh, Ishtiaq Hanif Mughal, Amina Batool, Younis Noshahi, and Allama Imdad Hussain Shah said that it is not enough for the government of Pakistan to pass a resolution. It should immediately summon the Burmese Ambassador and if his country does not stop from inflicting violence, then diplomatic boycott with Burma should be carried out. They said that the Muslim world is rich in resources and it is their duty to help the Burmese Muslims in deep distress.

The PAT leaders lauded the courageous stance taken by the Turkish government in support of Burmese Muslims. They particularly paid tributes to the First Lady of Turkey for her amazing initiative of supplying food to the camps of the Rohingyas and termed it as a great gesture of Islamic brotherhood.

The protest demonstration that was held under PAT Karachi chapter was led by Mushtaq Siddiqi, Rao Kamran, and Zaheer Akhtar. Yasir Irshad, Fayyaz Warraich, Dr Zubair A Khan, Arif Rizvi, Prof Javed Akhtar in Multan, Rafique Najam, Haydat Rasool Shah, Rana Tahir Saleem, Mian Kashif, Rub Nawaz Anjum in Faisalabad led the processions.
