Long March exposes true face of s-called democrats: MQI

Dr Raheeq Abbasi, Secretary General of MQI, has said that Nawaz Sharif’s frustration is self-evident from his baseless character assassination of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri. He said that PML-N President has stooped very low, which reflected his anxiety and fear of the people’s power against the forces of status quo.

He said that the way those who were the direct beneficiaries of the system had ganged up against the people’s leadership showed that they were united in preserving the status quo. He said that Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri’s agenda revolved around supremacy of the Constitution, restoration of real democracy and protection of the people’s rights. He said that the Long March of January 14 had exposed the fake lions.

Dr Abbasi expressed these views while talking to a MQI delegation that called on him in his office in Lahore the other day. He asked Mian Nawaz Sharif to come clean on ‘Qarz Autaro, Mulk Sanwaron’ campaign in which billions of rupees were collected in the name of retiring nation debt but which went to personal coffers of the then rulers before asking for expenditure involved on mega events of December 23 and January 14.

Dr Raheeq Abbasi said that capitalistic class that bartered its conscience for political power could not understand the spirit of sacrifice of the nation, adding that making fun of people’s selfless contributions and sacrifices was their standard practice. He made it clear that MQI workers pooled their resources to arrange these mega events. He further maintained that Nawaz Sharif was spending huge sums of money on publicity campaign of his party out of funds of the Punjab government.

Dr Abbasi said that the vested interests were fearful that implementation of electoral reforms proposed by Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri would break their political monopolies. He held that in order to save their empires, these elements were crying foul. He said that those who started their political career under the direct patronage of military dictator Zia-ul-Haq were not morally justified to talk big of democracy. He said that ocean of people would sweep away the so-called democratic authoritarianism and pave the way for the establishment of the people’s government. He said that Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri emerged as a leader of the middle and downtrodden sections of society.
