Only revolution can change nation’s destiny: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri

Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, the leader of Pakistan Awami Tehreek, has said that two hundred powerful families have been violating the rights of 180 million people without abandon in the name of so-called democracy. He said what we are waiting for is the establishment of prayer by ‘Namazis’, adding that the moment it is done, all of them, even if they are two thousand families, will be swept away in the flood of public wrath. He said that the elections do result in the change of the governments but the exploitative, oppressive and cruel system, which has been sucking blood of the masses, has stayed intact. He said that the system has kept the nation shackled for last 66 years.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri expressed these views while addressing Central Working Council of Pakistan Awami Tehreek in Lahore today. PAT President Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz, Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Muhammad Irshad Tahir, Bishrat Aziz Jaspal, Jawad Hamid, Qazi Faiz-ul-Islam, Zahid Javed and other leaders were also present on the occasion.

Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that analysts, political commentators, columnists and political leaders are now appreciating his point of view that he expressed before the elections. He said that doing so is morally correct but it will do little to compensate for the huge loss suffered by the nation after the elections. He said that no government ever formulated policies for the benefit of the nation because the electoral system through which they came into power is the real enemy of the people. He said that the people would have to rise against the incumbent electoral system.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the nation’s destiny will not change through elections but the revolution is the only answer to the ills afflicting us as state and society. He said that revolution will change the system and lay the foundation stone for establishment of real democracy in the country.

Dr Qadri said that the nation has a very weak memory. He said that it curses the powers that be for three or five years but come elections, it is again hoodwinked by rhetoric of media, and enchanting slogans of religious and political parties, believing that their fate could turn this time round with the result that it is exposed to more disappointment. He said that their prosperity and well-being is directly connected to the struggle they would launch against the system.
