Dr. Imran Younas, Central Secretary General of Minhaj Youth League, congratulated the Pakistan hockey team on their impressive victory against France and stated that this triumph is not just a win in a match, but a powerful message: when there is passion, enthusiasm, and strong leadership, the lack of resources cannot stop success.
He highlighted that hockey is Pakistan's national sport, and there was a time when the Pakistan hockey team dominated the fields, captivating global audiences with legendary players who were admired and imitated worldwide. However, due to government and federation neglect, the sport declined over the years.
Dr. Imran Younas termed Pakistan's victory over France in the Nations Cup as a “glorious comeback.” He said this win proves that if our youth are provided with resources and proper attention, they can raise Pakistan's flag on international platforms. He pointed out that due to the lack of financial security, hockey has almost vanished in Pakistan, yet the youth have shown that national spirit is greater than monetary gain.
He further stated that Minhaj Youth League organizes sports competitions annually, including cricket and badminton, and now has officially decided to promote hockey as well. He emphasized the need to reintroduce hockey in schools and colleges so that youth develop interest in the sport from an early age.
Dr. Imran Younas paid high tribute to Pakistan's goalkeeper Najeeb Ullah, who saved the final penalty and led Pakistan to the final. He also expressed admiration for the team captain, players, and coaching staff who brought honor to the country despite facing challenges.
He appealed to the media to give due coverage to hockey alongside cricket so that hockey can once again become a top priority and passion for the Pakistani youth.
