PAT leader Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that the decision to disqualify the dishonest and corrupt leader from holding public office is no doubt a significant development but the real test of the institutions of accountability including the SC is to bring the looted wealth and assets back to the country. He said that the corrupt elements have raised the mountains of wealth by plunging the country into debris of foreign loans.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said this while talking to delegations of overseas Pakistanis in Birmingham the other day. He said that international laws do not protect the corrupt. He said that there are scores of examples which prove that the wealth stashed abroad by the corrupt was finally transferred to the countries from which it was stolen after the claimant failed to give money trail and justify lawful possession of the wealth. He asked the SC to order for the constitution of a cell that should ponder legal actions to bring the looted money back into the country. He said that returning the ill-gotten money back to the countries of its origin is a global priority, adding that 166 countries of the world have put their signatures on the UN Convention.

Dr Qadri said that by declaring Nawaz Sharif as disqualified, the Supreme Court has paved the way for getting the huge mounds of money lying in foreign countries back to Pakistan. He asked NAB to do its part of the duty as early as possible. He said that after final and definitive decision, no power of the world can stop the assets of worth billions of rupees from being brought back to the country from which it was laundered.

The PAT Chairman said that during his recent visit to the UK, he met hundreds of Pakistanis who had the same question on their tongues: the people of Pakistan should not put up with the corrupt elite anymore. He said that overseas Pakistan are in a state of deep anguish over the humiliating treatment being meted out to the SC. He asked how a criminal can talk about the SC verdict being withdrawn. He said that in addition to effective implementation of laws, the pressure of society plays a decisive role to check lawlessness. He said that law has taken its course and now is the duty of the masses to play their part. He said that the people should not elect such elements to sacred institution such as Parliament who are not honest and trust worthy.
