Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri demands Panama-like JIT probe Multan Metro scam

Talking to the media at the Heathrow airport in London before his departure for Lahore, PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that he is leaving for his motherland, Pakistan, to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha whereas Nawaz Sharif has reached his own country for the same purpose. He said that the Panama leaks exposed the elder brother whereas Metro leaks has unmasked the real face of younger brother. He said that the Panama JIT-like powerful JIT should be constituted to probe the Multan Metro scandal, adding that those government officials who are pushing corruption of their masters under the carpet should be held accountable. He said that volume of corruption exposed so far is just tip of an iceberg. He said that the nation should understand as to why the rulers are so mad about executing mega projects such as Orange Line and Metro projects and why they bulldoze the departmental process meant for conception and execution of such projects.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that Auditor General of Pakistan has identified financial irregularities of Rs. 3 trillion in 36 ministries of the Nawaz government in one year only. He said that it has been 30 years since the Sharif brothers have been involved in corruption.

Dismissing the explanatory statement of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif as a façade, Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that such statements do not carry any value. He said that the Punjab CM had also declared before the nation that if the Justice Baqir Najfi Commission hinted at him, he would not waste even a moment to leave his office. He said that when the Najfi Commission report held his government responsible for Model Town massacre, he reneged on his public commitment and put the report under the wraps. He said that it has been more than two and half years since we have been waging legal struggle to get a copy of the report.

The PAT Chairman said that the political elite has come into the iron grip of accountability. He however warned that if the process of accountability is not taken to its logical end, then the corrupt will not be held accountable till the Day of Judgment and corruption will go on unabated. He said that before the SC verdict in the Panama case, Nawaz Sharif and his cronies were speaking on the top of their voices stating that there was no stain of corruption on him but later on as 5-member bench of the apex court held, he appeared to have been wholly tainted by corruption and plunder. He said that the corrupt elite thinks that no one can detect their scientific way of committing corruption but new revelations are being made every day.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the biggest of the revelations is contained in the Justice Najfi Commission report and the day this report is made public, the killers would not find a shelter to hide themselves. He said that we look forward to accountability, not elections, for as long as the sleaze is not removed and electoral reforms are not introduced, it will be more of the same. He said that Pakistan is passing through a difficult phase and its integrity and honour should be respected. He said that Pakistan has a golden opportunity to response to the Trump statement.

The PAT Chairman left Heathrow airport at 4 pm local time and will reach Lahore at 8 am on the morning of August 31 where the workers will warmly receive him. He will also speak to the media there.
