The privatization of educational institutions is not in the national interest. The massive hike in the fees of the universities and colleges is a matter of serious concern as it has become almost next to impossible for the middle-class parents to send their children to the educational institutions. Peace can only be established in the educational institutions if the occupation mafias are uprooted. There is a dire need of restoring scholarships of the students. The government’s plan of decreasing the budget of HEC cannot be accepted at any cost as it would close the doors of education on the poor students.
The above-mentioned resolution was passed in the concluding session of the Students’ Parliament which met here for two consecutive days under the banner of Mustafavi Students Movement in Lahore. The session was attended by over three hundred students of all universities and colleges from across Pakistan. Tajjmal Hussain Inqalabi, central president of MSM, presided over the moot, while Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz, senior deputy Secretary General of MQI, was the guest of honour on the occasion.
The chief highlight of the Conference was the live telephonic speech of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri from Canada. In his address, Shaykh-ul-Islam reminded the student leaders that education must remain their top priority in life, for those students who indulge in political activities without equipping themselves with proper education cannot become leaders in real life. He said that our educational institutions lack any organized system for the training of the students. Therefore, the students, he added, must focus on moral and spiritual training besides getting their formal education. They must spend some portion of their night time for worship and remembrance of Allah Almighty.
Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the weapon of a student is pen and book. “The students have it upon themselves to play their due role against the forces of terrorism and extremism. This can only be possible if they expand the ambit of their studies and also equip themselves with Islamic teachings, for any effort at acquiring modern education cannot produce desired results if it is not in sync with the traditions of our religions and forefathers,” he added. Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that Islamic values are based on Divine system and have the potential of resolving our problems provided if they are implemented in letter and spirit. He said that the student community working under the aegis of MSM is the inheritor of intellectual legacy of MQI. They must dedicate themselves to acquiring productive knowledge and become beneficial for the society on the whole. MSM president also spoke on the occasion.
