Nazim-e-Ala of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi, has said that the US president-elect Barak Obama should use his office to fulfill his promise of change he so vehemently raised during his election campaign. He said the people of the US and entire world had rightly pinned their hopes on Barak Obama for initiating solid and positive process for restoration of peace, order and global harmony. "There is a need to work towards elimination of all the root causes which breed terrorism and extremism," he added. Dr Abbasi said the policy positions of new president would greatly impact upon geo-strategic landscape of the world. There is a need of bringing back normalcy, culture of dialogue and interfaith harmony to bottle up the genie of terrorism and fundamentalism. Dr Abbasi said the president-elect should play his role in giving right of self-determination to the oppressed nations. He needed to formulate policies which are based on the premise of respecting the sovereignty and integrity of other countries. "It is high time Obama gave healing touch to the festering wounds in the larger interest of peace," he concluded.
