Condemning the attack of militants on the Bannu jail in the strongest possible words, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has termed it as one of the worst incidents in the national history. He said that the incident had raised a number of questions for both the provincial and federal governments. He said that the release of hundreds of hardened criminals who played havoc with the security of the country had also exposed the performance of the law enforcement agencies.
He highlighted the need for using iron hand against those who sought to create ‘state within a state’. He asked the law enforcement agencies to think of innovative ways to deal with the menace proactively.
Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri expressed these views while addressing a meeting of Working Executive Council through phone from abroad.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that practice of suspending a few officials or adopting traditional approach of investigation would not be helpful. Those root causes need to be identified and addressed, which have put the country in the raging fires of terrorism and militancy.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that law and order situation were at the lowest ebb in Quetta after Karachi and GB. The citizens were being mercilessly killed in broad-day light while the law enforcement agencies were looking the other way. He said that MQI condemned the target killing and unending wave of mayhem which had gripped the country and sought an end to it. He asked the people to forge unity in their ranks and defeat all those elements who were bringing the country into disrepute through their reprehensible actions.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri further said that grave law and order situation had grave implications for the country’s economy, which was already in dire straits due to mismanagement and a combination of external factors. He said that if urgent actions were not taken to stem the tide of lawlessness, it would push the poverty-stricken people against the wall.
Dr Qadri also asked the superior judiciary to note the prevailing law and order situation in different parts of the country and hand down a verdict to restore law and order on fast-track basis.
